HOW DOES MFB WORK?

Hello! Mighty Fine opened as a cafe, but became well known for our sourdough bread and classic European style pastries during the pandemic when we sold out our front window.

We offer: 

sourdough bread, French style pastries, sandwiches (breakfast and lunch), frozen take home meals, and 49th Parallel espresso. 

Our hours:

Are limited as me make (almost) everything in-house with a very small team in a very small kitchen.  We require two full days of prep to open. By limiting our hours, we function with a smaller team and can produce high quality food for accessible prices.

Our Values: 

Low-waste -- we produce limited quantities and recommend you place an order if you'd like something specific. Orders may be placed through this site (on our contact page) or through FB/Instagram Messenger.

Work Balance and living wages: Our limited hours allow our employees to work daytime hours for more time with family. We pay above the county living wage, and offer benefits.

Direct Contact: We prefer to converse with our guests, so we have no online store.  If we can't offer what you are looking for, we will suggest another option or let you know when it will be available.

Quality Service: We do not have a telephone number. We did but it impacted our in-shop service and we frequently missed orders. Contact now must be in-shop, through email, or private message through FB/Instagram.

Our rotating menu: Every Wednesday we post the rotating menu (soups/sandwich special, breads). In the afternoons (usually), we post the pastry items we will have available the following day in our stories (FB/Instagram)

Best time to visit: 

For Baked Goods: We recommend you arrive early as our customers prefer to shop early. We attempt to bake quantities to take us until 30 minutes before we close, but given we never know how busy we will be, we occasionally sell out before 1pm (11am during the warmer months).

For Sandwiches: Our breakfast sandwich is available when we open, and our lunch sandwiches begin at 10am. Our busiest lunch time is between 12 and 1.

Coffee: All times are good for coffee.

To keep prices reasonable, we rotate the menu frequently based on ingredient availability/seasonality. We work with local farmers during the growing season as much as possible, and choose Canadian, specifically Ontario ingredients when available . Our menu is limited during the winter for these reasons.
